(i)   What is TVET?

For an emerging economy to be able to compete on the global market, there is a need to address the required skills by different industries. As Mauritius rely mainly on its human capital, it is vital to equip the youth with sufficient training at the required institutions. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays a pivotal role between the youth and the world of work.

The Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD) is the main actor for the TVET, they have for long been the promoter of technical and vocational education and is also a pillar of the training education. To meet the needs of the world of work at the middle professional level, the MITD offers panoply of technical programs to provide human resource training and also provides courses at the level of National Diploma.
