Individual career counselling sessions / Group counselling / Phone counselling / counselling via mail and e-services in the form of careers guidance are offered free of charge to students and public at large having difficulties to pursue a career at our office on the 2nd Floor of the Social Security House, Old Moka Road, Rose Hill.
a. Activity: Talks conducted on choice of subjects
Talks on choice of subjects are conducted by careers counselors in secondary schools to help students of grade 9, 11, 12 and 13 to make informed choice in relation to their skills, interest, personality, strengths and weaknesses. Students are therefore able to plan their career path taking into consideration different training and employment opportunities available for them.
b. Activity: School to Industry visit organised for students.
School to industry visit is organized primarily is to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical learning where students have the opportunity to:
Consequently, students are able to understand the world of work and explore various training and employment opportunities and getting accustomed to different work cultures.
c. Activity: Talks from Resource Persons.
Resource persons from different organisation / institution are invited on behalf of the the careers guidance service unit to conduct career talks / presentation in specific field from various sectors so that students are made aware of education, training and employment prospects available for them.
3. Collection of updated career information facts through employer’s visit programme.
Careers counselors conduct visit in various organization dealing in different sectors of the economy in a bid to gather updated careers information in the job market, training institution and higher education establishments.
4.Participation in various careers / jobs fairs
The careers guidance service unit organizes and participate in jobs / careers fairs throughout the year. Subsequently, updated career information brochures / flyers and banners are published and distributed to students and public at large. These publications are also displayed in careers corner of various secondary schools where career talks have been conducted.
